In 2010, i bought a hobie pro anger 14. because of the boat's heft and tendency for standard cradles or bunks to deform the hull, i cooked up the idea of using lengthwise pvc to conform to and yet. Was thinking about using thin wall thickness pvc sewer pipe to cover my trailer bunks. should be easy to saw out a section and use a hot air gun to flaten and bend over the sides of the board and screw in the side of the bunk board..
I'm using 1 1/2" for the bunks and 6" for the mast carrier. northern tool sells an aluminum door and endcap for 6" . electrical conduit in pvc is the same size as white water pipe but is grey and has some sunlight protection built in. i put some 303 aerospace protectant on my bunks and can push the boat across them with one hand.. The ez-loader composite bunk covers fit over existing 6" wide carpeted bunks, 2 x 6's and aid the launching and loading of aluminum boats by providing a slippery surface for the boat to slide on. they are 18" long.. Pvc may not be quite as slippery as nylon, but while looking at a piece of 1x4" pvc trim board, it occurred to me that it would still make a good bunk glide: it is easy to work, thick enough to countersink the screw heads, and best of all, would provide little friction when i was either launching or pulling the boat out of the water..
